Do people even read this?

Over the last few days, I was thinking "are people even reading my blog?" It's hard to tell and unless I installed some hit counter (which would mean banner ads added to the blog - pass on that!) or paid for a full one, I'd never know. Unless I asked. So:

is anyone out there in blog world reading my blog?!

Yep, I'm curious...and selfish! I want to know if people are actually reading and enjoying my blog, or if I'm just typing for myself here! ;) Haha! So, if you are reading my blog - thank you! And if you are, can you please leave a comment after this post, so I can know that people actually are reading it?

Wow, I sound so whiny today, don't I?

PS - no updates on the job front. We still haven't heard anything. It's been almost a month since I left Florida for what I thought would be a week long trip to Halifax for my sorority ball. Blah.

I got tagged...

So, thanks to Joanne (thanks again, sweetie!) I got tagged! And now I have to share 5 things about myself that y'all might not already know. But what to share? I'm already pretty open about my life. So I guess if y'all already knew this stuff....sorry! ;)

1. I was named after both my grandmothers. My first name was my dad's mom's name and my middle name is my mom's mom's middle name (fun side fact: my parents did the same thing with my brother too....only with my grandfathers names!)

2. I used to work at a sports bar in downtown Toronto. It was an off-track betting bar and had regulars who were in there EVERY day betting. I got sweet tips from them (in fact, I got more than the other servers on my side...probably the boobs!). For anyone in Toronto, it was called the Skyfront Bar and Grill (attached to the Sportsfront Bar and Grill) and it was on Front St (creative name, eh?) between East Side Marios and Union Station.

3. I have never broken any bones. I've sprained or bruised the shit out of almost everything in my body, but never broken anything!

4. I hate wearing socks. If I didn't have to wear socks ever again, I would be a happy camper!

5. My fave movie and book of all time is the Anne of Green Gables series. I could recite the entire movies for you right now! ;)

So, that's my 5 things. Most of you probably know at least one of those...but now everyone knows the full deets on me! And now, I'm off to tag someone else! Hee hee!

They won, they won!

Last week, I got a call from Lorraine. She told me about a photography contest that her and Sarah had entered Jessica and Phil in (without their knowledge!) to win wedding photography from an amazing photographer based in Toronto. They ended up as one of the three finalists!

This is where the craziness came in. To get the vote out, Lorraine asked me to email everyone I knew to get them to vote for Jessica and Phil to win. We all sent out the word and had as many people as possible email their votes in for Jmadd and Phil.

We finally heard the results last night. While they didn't win the big prize, Judy (the photographer) said the votes were so close that she's giving wedding photography for FREE to all three couples! Jessica and Phil won Judy for their wedding! She'll fly down to Halifax from Toronto and photograph their wedding and they'll have amazing photos as a result!

So, to any of you who recieved my email and voted for Jessica and Phil, THANK YOU! Your votes helped and now they've gotten an amazing free gift for their big day! :)

If you'd like to read the story that Sarah submitted for the contest, Judy's blog is at:

Congrats to Jessica and Phil!

Oh and on an unrelated sidenote, no update on Art's look for a job yet. I'm hoping we'll find something soon, I miss my honey-bunny!

A big setback to the move

So last week we got a huge setback to my moving to Florida.

Art got laid off from his job. With no notice or hint that it was coming.

We're both obviously pissed and upset and angry and everything. Just when we were turning a corner and I had thought 2007 would be so amazing, this just hits us. To top it off, the visa papers were in the mailbox when Art got home the day he got laid off. So now, instead of being on a plane today, headed for Florida, I'm still in Halifax, freezing my bootie off and waiting again.

Art's already got a new job prospect (that he incidentally set up a few hours before he got laid off....fate telling him something, perhaps?!) so we're both awaiting his interview for that. If all goes well and he gets this job, I could be in Florida by February, which would rock! If he doesn't get that job, I'll be off to the job banks to find myself a temp-type job here in Halifax until Art finds a new job....just something to earn a little cash for myself and pass the time. It could be a few weeks or a few months, who knows really.

This last week has been pretty brutal. My emotions have been all over the place, but mostly down in the dumps. I'm so angry at his ex-employers for screwing things over. First they send him to Texas over New Years to fix problems with their client (and ruin the perfect New Years Eve I had envisioned) then they let him go with no notice. Which means now, we'll have to start that damn Green Card process ALL over again (not that his ex-employers were far in the process....they took their good sweet time on it!). But, I have some amazing friends who have cheered me up with girls nights(Kristy and Val, thanks for the fun nights!!!) and many more friends who have listened to me rant in the past week. I feel truly grateful that I have such amazing friends and family!

It's like a neverending set of problems keep throwing themselves at us. Can we never have a normal life? Why do we have to have the most confusing relationship EVER?! But, I know we'll get through this fine, like we always do, because we have each other. (Yep, there I go, being all mushy....didn't I just say that my emotions have been everywhere lately?! ;) )

On a plus side, if Art does get this job he's interviewing for, then this will allow me to go to FSU at the in-state tuition rate!! How, you ask? Well, the job is for a position at FAMU (the other university in Tallahassee) and Florida state-run universities allow employees and spouses of said universities attend at the in-state rate! :) This is a HUGE thing, as y'all know that I have been trying to find a way to attend FSU for the last few years at the in-state rate so I can finish my last year of my Finance degree!!!

So, if everyone can think good thoughts towards my husband this week for his interview. Who knows, this shitty start to 2007 could end up turning things MUCH better for the two of us!

Now, if the weather here in Halifax could just warm back up, I'd be much happier! -35C is not a fun thing!

I'm a dancing queen, a dancing queen...

Last night was my sorority (Iota Beta Chi) ball and it was fabulous! The girls and I spent the night dancing up a storm with our beautiful active chapter! It was so much fun to get all dressed up and party!

I loved my gown and wish there were more events like the ball that I could wear it to!

And then I got some amazing news from one of my sorority sisters this morning.....last night after the ball, Phil asked Jessica to marry him!!!! So I'm sending out more big huge congrats to Phil and JMadd! I'm so excited for the two of them! The ball was fab and hearing of Phil and Jessica's engagement was the perfect ending to the weekend!

Still no updates on our visa situation though....I'm hoping the papers will come in the mail soon so I can buy my ticket back to Florida!

Happy New Year!!!!

Well, it's New Years Day! Cheers to 2007!

I spent New Years Eve in the company of our friends here in Florida, without Art. He got pulled away on Friday to Texas for work and only got back this evening. The party was still a blast, even without the kiss at midnight from my honey!

Here's one pic of myself with the girls, Iva and Necole:

I got my ball gown for my sorority's upcoming Winter Ball this weekend....it's gorgeous and I got it on sale from David's Bridal. I'll be sure to share pics with me all prettied up! I'll be heading back to Halifax on Thursday and I'm hoping to return back to Florida VERY soon after that. We'll see how long it takes for Art's lawyers to get us the paperwork for his TN visa renewal (the visa was approved on December 14th, so the paperwork should be here soon, I'd think!). I'm hoping for only a week's visit to Halifax, then back to Florida permanently!!!

Anyway, off to have some champagne and celebrate (belatedly!) New Year's with my honey! I hope each and every one of you has an amazing 2007 and this year brings you everything you're hoping for!
